Role: Residential Support Worker - Temporary - Newry

are delighted to support one of NI's most recognisable public sector employers who are actively seeking a Residential Support Worker to join their team on an interim basis - The post holder will support multidisciplinary therapeutic interventions for children and young people with intellectual disabilities or complex needs, within a residential service based on best practice.

  • Band 4
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Temporary position, until September

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to young people, building positive relationships and acting as a role model
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in line with statutory and Trust requirements
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, educational staff, and professionals to support each young person's development
  • Promote a safe, clean, and supportive environment in accordance with Health & Safety and infection control policies
  • Support young people with daily living tasks such as cooking, personal care, and household responsibilities
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to support professional development
  • Promote community involvement and accompany young people on outings, appointments, and activities
  • Handle Trust funds responsibly, ensuring proper recording and safe custody of monies

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a caring role with children, young people, or young adults with Intellectual Disabilities in community, acute, or residential settings
  • 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) including English, or equivalent qualifications
  • Registered with NISCC (Social Care Register) or eligible for registration prior to appointment
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments considered for applicants with a disability)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond sensitively to service users' needs
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable Criteria:

  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People
  • Experience working therapeutically with young people
