The Opportunity


VANRATH are excited to be working with a major global organisation to recruit a Senior Front-End Software Engineer for their Belfast-based team. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced, high-performing technology division building innovative, business-critical platforms within the financial services sector.
You will join a highly collaborative and Agile product team focused on delivering modern, performant, and secure front-end applications that serve both internal users and external clients across international markets.

The Role


As a Senior Front-End Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and delivery of next-generation user interfaces. You'll take ownership of core components and help mentor team members, while contributing to a culture of engineering excellence, continuous delivery, and user-focused development.

Key Responsibilities


  • Build scalable, reusable, and accessible web interfaces using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and CSS/HTML5

  • Apply structured UI/UX patterns with a focus on maintainability and performance

  • Ensure consistent cross-browser experiences and responsive design

  • Work with component libraries (e.g. Material UI, Ant Design) and front-end tools (e.g. Webpack, Vite)

  • Implement and maintain test automation (e.g. Cypress, Selenium)

  • Collaborate with architecture, design, QA, and back-end teams in a full Agile delivery lifecycle

  • Uphold best practices around performance tuning, security, and UI testing

  • Take a hands-on role in feature ownership, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers

Essential Experience


  • Strong commercial experience with React 16+, TypeScript 4+, JavaScript (ES6), and JSX

  • Demonstrated delivery of modern, performant front-end solutions in a production setting

  • Expertise in building reusable UI components and responsive layouts

  • Familiarity with automated testing tools and front-end performance optimisation

  • Understanding of web security standards and full software development lifecycle

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a high-performing team

Desirable Skills


  • Experience with Figma and UI prototyping workflows

  • Use of Storybook or similar tools for UI component development

  • Exposure to financial or trading platforms

  • Familiarity with AWS services and modern DevOps practices

  • Experience with back-end technologies like C# and SQL

  • Knowledge of TDD, BDD, or other test-first methodologies
