Senior Application Support Engineer (12 Month FTC)

Job Description

Our client, a leading professional services firm, is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Application Support Engineer to join their dedicated internal IT team. This is a key opportunity to help drive their transformation as they move core business systems into a cloud-first architecture.

This role will see you become a subject matter expert in the support, optimisation, and continuous improvement of a critical enterprise document management platform, used daily by professionals across multiple international offices.

You'll work in close collaboration with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation and integration of systems in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

This is a Hybrid role offering 3 days in the Belfast office and 2 days working from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of application support and maintenance for the firm's central document platform.
  • Drive upgrades, performance tuning, and patching activities to ensure system reliability and user satisfaction.
  • Work with business analysts and project managers to deliver system enhancements and integrations.
  • Investigate and resolve application issues, identifying root causes and suggesting long-term solutions.
  • Act as a key technical liaison between internal IT teams, external vendors, and end users.
  • Deliver knowledge transfer and training for first-line support teams to ensure consistent service quality.
  • Monitor system metrics and performance logs, proactively addressing potential bottlenecks.
  • Support the wider IT strategy by contributing to cloud migration and application modernisation initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in an application support or systems engineering role, ideally in a professional services or enterprise setting.
  • Deep familiarity with document or content management platforms (e.g., experience supporting systems such as iManage or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across client and server environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams and SharePoint Online.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, and cloud-hosted services.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL scripting for report generation and diagnostics.
  • Comfortable working within an ITIL-aligned support structure, including incident and problem management.
  • Understanding of API-based integrations and experience working with third-party tools and connectors.
  • Experience supporting or integrating tools such as Intapp, Litera CAM, or other legal tech applications is advantageous.
  • A collaborative and customer-focused mindset with strong communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certification in a relevant application or platform (e.g. iManage Certified Systems Engineer or similar).
  • Familiarity with information barrier solutions or ethical wall systems.
  • Exposure to data migration utilities and document transformation tools.
