Job Description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a major public sector organisation for a skilled and reliable Roofer to join a dedicated team delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across a large housing portfolio.

The Role

As part of a multi-skilled maintenance workforce, the successful candidate will carry out a wide range of roofing repairs and replacements across social housing stock, ensuring all work is delivered to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct roofing inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs, and full replacements as required.

  • Work on flat and pitched roofs, including slating, tiling, felt roofing, and guttering repairs.

  • Ensure all works comply with relevant Health & Safety standards and public sector policies.

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.

  • Collaborate with other trades as part of multi-discipline teams to deliver efficient and high-quality service.

  • Engage respectfully with tenants and represent the organisation in a professional manner on-site.

Essential Criteria

  • A recognised qualification in roofing (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Roofing Occupations or equivalent).

  • Proven experience working as a roofer, preferably on domestic or social housing projects.

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety procedures in construction environments.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

  • A full valid driving licence or access to suitable transport is essential due to the nature of the role.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a public sector or social housing setting.

  • Familiarity with digital job management systems or mobile work technology.
