Procurement Officer

Location: Portadown
Salary: £37,035 per annum
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract: Initial 6 months

About the Role

We are seeking a Procurement Officer to join a busy Business Support function on an initial 6-month contract. This is a key role, responsible for delivering a professional procurement service, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting colleagues across the organisation to achieve value for money, transparency, and accountability in all procurement activities.

You will work closely with managers and staff to provide expert advice, support tendering processes, oversee supplier performance, and contribute to the development of procurement policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate


Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • A relevant third-level qualification (e.g. finance, business, accounting, procurement) with at least 2 years' recent procurement experience (within the last 7 years)
    OR a minimum of 4 years' recent experience in a procurement role.
  • Experience providing procurement advice and guidance to stakeholders at different levels.
  • Proven ability to deliver procurement outcomes that achieve best value for money.
  • Strong administrative and finance skills within a procurement function.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement processes and associated governance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Access to suitable transport to meet the requirements of the post.


Desirable:

  • 3+ years' experience in a public sector procurement role.
  • Knowledge of UK legislation and NI public sector procurement directives and systems.
