Salary: £26,000 per annum


We are currently recruiting on behalf of a reputable public sector organisation for an Office Administrator to join their team in Newry. This is a temporary, office-based position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of essential administrative services in a professional and supportive environment.

About the Role


The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of administrative and clerical support functions across various departments. This role is well-suited to someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative team setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily administrative support to multiple teams and departments
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal staff and external stakeholders
  • Manage correspondence, maintain accurate records, and process documentation
  • Assist with financial administration including invoice processing, purchasing, and budget tracking
  • Organise and support meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on actions
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of departmental events and projects
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of internal systems and procedures

Person Specification



Essential Criteria


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above), including English Language and a numerate subject
    OR
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in administration and customer service in lieu of formal qualifications


Experience:

  • At least 12 months' experience in:
  • General administrative duties (e.g., document preparation, filing)
  • Customer service (internal or external)
  • Minimum 6 months' experience using a Management Information System (MIS) or similar software


Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Comfortable using email and digital document management systems


Other Requirements:

  • Full driving licence and access to transport, or the ability to travel as required

    Desirable Criteria

    • Experience working in a public sector or local government environment
    • Familiarity with financial administration processes
    • Experience supporting meetings and coordinating events
