Newly-Qualified Accountant (Ideal First Industry Contract)


My Client:

VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for a Top 100 manufacturing organisation just outside of Belfast City Centre for a Newly-Qualified Accountant. This role will be working within a team of highly skilled accountants and will provide the perfect, first exposure to industry for an accountant coming out of practice and keen to add valuable commercial experience to their CV. This is a temporary to permanent appointment where a decision will be made inside the first 12 months.


The Role:

Reporting to the Finance Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of all accounting information as follows:

Statutory Accounts Preparation

  • Preparing the plc Annual Report and Preliminary Announcement
  • Updating policies and documentation around key areas of accounting judgement and financial control
  • Managing the audit team and overall timetable
  • Ensuring preparation of accounts within set deadlines
  • Oversee preparation and audit of all subsidiary statutory accounts

Management Accounts

  • Key Reviewer of Management Accounts, including preparing of Board Packs
  • Carry out month end related tasks and reconciliations
  • Input into key analysis on specific areas of focus, revenue, performance vs budget, overheads
  • Providing assistance to business units on finance queries
  • Oversee intercompany balances, ensuring intercompany is always reconciled.

Treasury Management

  • Manages cash balances, deposits, foreign currencies, intercompany loans
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Monitor cash conversion and identify ways to ensure targets are met
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts

Other

  • Supervises the Financial Assistants and working as part of the broader finance team
  • Liaises with other Departments (e.g. Business Units, HR, Legal)
  • Assist with Invest NI grant reporting and compliance
  • Assists the Finance Manager and Group Head of Finance as required



The Ideal Candidate:

- Recently qualified accountant from a reputable practice background
- Strong academics with a desire to grow your career in industry
- Ideally you will have some secondment experience with industry clients (desirable not essential)


Remuneration:

c.£40,000
