Senior Java Engineer - Contract

Location: Belfast (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Daily Rate (6-Month Initial Term)

Our client, a well-established local organisation, is currently seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join their dynamic team for an initial 6-month contract. About the Role:

As a Senior Java Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle - from requirements gathering and system design to implementation, testing, and deployment.

This role offers a hybrid working model, allowing you the flexibility to work both remotely and from the client's modern Belfast office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java-based applications

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications

  • Contribute to code reviews, testing, and deployment processes

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

  • Ensure software adheres to best practices, security guidelines, and performance standards

  • Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across the team

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in Java (8 or above) development

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns

  • Experience with Spring / Spring Boot frameworks

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platform

  • Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments

  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as JavaScript or Angular/React

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools and practices

  • Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes
