Human Resources Officer - Public Sector Organisation - Temporary Contract
Location: Belfast
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Contract Type: 6-Month Temporary Contract (with possibility of extension)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector organisation for a Human Resources Officer to join their team on a 6-month temporary basis, with the potential for extension based on business needs.

The Role:


As Human Resources Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused HR service. You'll provide support across the HR function, managing administrative and advisory responsibilities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring effective communication with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver efficient administrative support to HR management and internal teams

  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures in line with best practice

  • Provide first-line advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures to staff and managers

  • Organise diaries, prepare reports, and arrange meetings, interviews, and documentation

  • Handle internal and external enquiries in a professional and confidential manner

  • Support compliance with information governance standards, including GDPR

  • Maintain records using HR systems and ensure timely processing of changes

  • Raise purchase requisitions using the e-procurement system and manage stock orders

  • Attend and minute meetings when required

  • Uphold organisational policies including equality, health & safety, and information management

  • Participate in ongoing personal development and contribute to service improvement initiatives

Essential Criteria:


Applicants must meet one of the following:


  • A minimum of 2 A-Levels (or equivalent or higher qualification) and at least 18 months of relevant experience, including one year in a Human Resources environment,
    OR

  • A minimum of three years' relevant experience, to include one year in a Human Resources environment


Additionally, candidates must have:


  • Minimum of one year's experience using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) in a work setting

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service

Desirable Criteria:


  • Previous experience working within a public sector or healthcare organisation
