Monday to Friday schedule
Reporting directly to senior management, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust safety culture across multiple business units. This role plays a vital part in ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices across manufacturing, recycling, and site-based operations.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM 2015, and other relevant UK legislation
Develop and manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Monitor activities involving machinery, hazardous substances, and installations
Investigate incidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions
Training and Staff Engagement
Deliver tailored health and safety training across departments
Conduct toolbox talks and operational briefings
Increase awareness of fire safety, dust control, manual handling, and machinery use
Environmental Responsibility
Oversee waste segregation, disposal, and recycling practices
Support sustainability efforts and energy reduction initiatives
Monitor air quality and emissions in joinery facilities and ensure control measures are in place
Monitoring and Reporting
Maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental documentation
Lead internal audits and inspections at manufacturing sites, recycling centres, and project locations
Produce regular reports and recommendations for continuous improvement
Experience in a health and safety leadership role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or recycling
Strong working knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage staff at all levels
Proven track record of managing safety in operational environments involving machinery and materials
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate is essential
Experience with COSHH, ISO standards, and environmental controls is highly desirable
