VANRATH are excited to be recruiting a Financial Controller specialising in FP&A for a well-established company, who are leaders in their industry, based close to Belfast. Reporting to the Financial Director, you will have a leading role in the finance, planning & analysis function.


This is an interesting & dynamic role in which you will deliver insights to the various operational managers and continually improve the reporting processes at local & global levels. Working closely with the head of FP&A, you will be responsible for leading financial modelling, cashflow forecasting and change management.

The Ideal Person

  • 3+ years of experience in a Senior Finance Position
  • Qualified accountant holding a ACA, ACCA, CIMA professional qualification or equivalent
  • Work experience in a Group company with multinational Entities (Global reach)
  • Excellent understanding of accounting processes and the need for appropriate controls in place
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and ability to influence and drive results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage with influence non-financial people/ teams
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Working knowledge and application of IFRS
  • Experience in a Group company with a minimum turnover of £100 million



The Role

  • Provide assurance to the business and Finance management that the accounting records are accurate
  • Prepare monthly management accounts pack including commentary and analysis for key business stakeholders
  • Assist with the organisation and co-ordination of the month end process including monthly Board reports and review of the monthly balance sheet reconciliation and validation process
  • Lead, coach and develop a small engaged and motivated finance team
  • Ensure compliance with local market financial laws, requirements, regulations and tax issues
  • Deliver improvement projects and programmes implemented as part of the global finance transformation programme, and the business restructuring programme, including the transition of transaction accounting, accounts payable, payroll and billing & collections to the Shared Service Centre and the transition to a strong business partnering role driving results
  • Influence the leadership team to grow the business by formulating appropriate financial strategies and plans.
  • Liaise with colleagues to understand root causes of financial results, investigate budget variances, and formulate and drive recovery plans
  • Support and engage with commercial finance on key pricing and bidding activities
  • Ensure standard costs are regularly reviewed and updated, variances are actively managed and global trends on commodity prices monitored and implications considered
  • Produce business cases for key R&D activities
