Estates Surveyor (Public Sector)

VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for an Estates Surveyor for 3 months initially with the possibility of extension. You will predominantly be based in their Belfast site.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the Commercial Property Business and Technical Manager to ensure the appropriate policies and procedures are developed and implemented to effectively manage commercial stock and maximise collectable income for the Commercial Property portfolio;
  • Responsible for the day to day management of Housing Executive commercial tenancies in accordance with the lease and the Business Tenancy Order including but not limited to:
  1. Setting and agreeing rental elements of the lease.
  2. Robust rental income collection, including taking rental payments and where required prepare the necessary documentation for legal action, including representing the Housing Executive in Court.
  • Ensure the Commercial Portfolio asset is professionally managed & ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and meeting the needs of the Housing Executive's Fire Risk Assessments, taking account of the type of commercial unit.
  • Provide regular management briefings; performance reports and updates to relevant management forums on the Commercial Property functions, including approval papers.
  • Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders e.g local area housing teams, Finance division, Professional Legal Services, health and safety teams and commercial and community tenants.
  • Contribute to the necessary actions to relet void units and deliver options appraisals based on value for money and current demand.



Requirements

Essential Criteria

Applicants must provide evidence by the closing date for the application that they meet the following essential criteria:

  • Have a Degree, or equivalent level of qualification, in Estate Management PLUS 2 years' relevant experience in Commercial Property Management within an Estate Agency (Commercial Section) or the Public Service.

  • Relevant Experience should demonstrate managing commercial tenancies, demonstrating working with others to deliver business results, including experience working with tenants and prospective tenants.

  • Exceptionally, candidates not holding the above level of qualifications, but with at least 3 years' relevant experience in Commercial Property Management within an Estate Agency (Commercial Section) or the Public Service, may also be considered.

  • Possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.

Desirable Criteria

Have full current membership of RICS (Commercial Section)


Remuneration
c£31,000 per annum, plus discount benefits.
