Youth Assembly Participation Officer

Job Description


VANRATH are delighted to be working with our client, a large Public Sector organisation in their search for a Youth Assembly Participation Officer to join their already well-established team.


Responsibilities


As the Youth Assembly Participation Officer you will work as part of a team within the Education Service. The Participation Officer will be required to undertake a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

  • Working directly with Assembly Committees and young people to facilitate the day-to-day work of Youth Assembly Committees;
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of the plenary sittings of the Youth Assembly;
  • Assisting in the development and drafting of policies, processes and procedures in relation to the Youth Assembly;
  • Engaging with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including young people;
  • Assisting in the design and delivery of a training programme for members of the Youth Assembly;
  • Assisting in designing and delivering communications plans and activities, including through social media and digital platforms; and
  • Assisting in the administrative work associated with the delivery of the Youth Assembly.


The Ideal Person


Applicants must, by the closing date for applications demonstrate;

  • GCSE passes at Grades A, B or C in five separate subjects, which must include English Language and Mathematics (or qualifications that can be shown to be of an equivalent or higher level); and
  • One year's experience in the provision of participative youth led-projects.


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of successfully designing and delivering training and development opportunities for young people.
  • A good knowledge of the structures and role of the Northern Ireland Assembly and public, community and voluntary sectors.
  • A good knowledge of the youth sector in Northern Ireland.
