VANRATH are excited to be recruiting for a leading public sector organisation who are seeking a Web Content Manager to lead their digital content strategy across a high-profile platform.
This is a unique opportunity for a content and digital communications specialist with team leadership experience to join a progressive and impactful team during a key period of development.

The Role

The Web Content Manager will lead a small team of web publishers and be responsible for the strategy, management and continuous improvement of a large-scale public sector website and related platforms. You will deliver content audits, oversee day-to-day publishing, and work with internal stakeholders and technical teams to improve user experience and ensure accessibility compliance.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of a user-centred website and microsites
  • Managing and developing a team of two web publishers
  • Overseeing content management systems, workflows and user access
  • Conducting audits to improve content relevance and eliminate redundancies
  • Monitoring site analytics to improve user experience
  • Ensuring compliance with accessibility legislation and digital standards
  • Using SEO strategies and tools to improve discoverability
  • Delivering content training to stakeholders and business areas


Essential Criteria

Option 1:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in any subject with significant web design/digital media components, or a Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Media, Computing, or Information Technology

And

At least 2 years' experience in all of the following areas:

  • Leading and managing a team responsible for publishing regular website content
  • Managing and administering enterprise-level CMS platforms (e.g. Episerver, Umbraco)
  • Managing and administering websites built using WordPress
  • Using accessibility checker tools and addressing issues
  • Troubleshooting web issues including availability and performance
  • Using HTML, Markdown, CSS, JavaScript to maintain complex layouts
  • Using Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for reporting and insights
  • Proficiency in Adobe products including Dreamweaver and Photoshop
  • Delivering website projects and working with stakeholders to develop content and improve online user journeys

Option 2:

  • At least 4 years' experience across all areas outlined above.
