About your next employer
Under the direction of the driver undertake duties concerned with the safe transport of children with special needs to and from school.

What you'll do
Under the direction of the driver:-

  • Assist with the transport of children including those with mobility problems or severe/moderate learning difficulties, to and from school or other authorised locations.
  • Assist children, including those with mobility problems or severe/moderate learning difficulties to Education Authority and alight the bus.
  • Assist in the operation of tail lifts and ramps on vehicles as required. Check that wheelchairs are properly clamped down and secured and that harnesses are worn at all times when in transit.
  • Ensure that the physical and behavioural needs of pupils are met while on the vehicle and attend to children who may have specific medical conditions.
  • Assist in dealing with any immediate minor first-aid requirements and ensure that any injured child receives medical attention as quickly as possible. Assist the driver with completion and submission of the relevant personal injury report/accident report forms.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and parents.
  • Advise relief drivers about route and familiarise him/her with pupils' needs.
  • Work as required on summer schemes arranged by schools.
  • Carry out all duties in the working conditions normally inherent in the particular job.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Carry out duties for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within the competence of the employee.


About you
Essential:

  • Evidence of experience of working with childre
  • Ability to communicate and take instruction in the English language.
  • Willingness to undertake job related training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective team working skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative while following procedures.
  • Evidence of how your experience and approach to work reflect the ethos and values.


Desirable:

  • Evidence of experience of working with children with special needs
