Job description

The Role

Reporting into a specialist development team, the successful candidate will support the coordination and completion of a programme of technical assessments to ensure housing schemes meet agreed design, compliance, cost and value-for-money standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking technical assessments of housing development proposals, including design compliance, cost appraisal and value for money

  • Producing clear, evidence-based reports with recommendations to support project approval decisions

  • Engaging with external delivery partners through pre-assessment discussions to support timely scheme approvals

  • Providing technical advice to internal stakeholders and external partners

  • Supporting audits of completed schemes to ensure compliance with approved proposals, including site visits and drawing reviews

  • Maintaining accurate project records in line with internal procedures

  • Contributing to the ongoing development of design standards and best practice

Essential Criteria

Applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in the following areas:

  • Housing scheme design process compliance, including adherence to relevant standards and/or funding criteria

  • The housing scheme development process and associated delivery challenges

  • Partnership working with key stakeholders involved in housing development

  • Technical assessment of project proposals and the preparation of reports with clear recommendations

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Registered Architect or Architecture graduate with a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience, or

  • BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) in an architecture or construction-related discipline with 3 years' relevant experience, or

  • Exceptionally, candidates with 5 years' relevant experience may be considered without the above qualifications

Additional Requirements

  • Strong IT skills

  • Access to a driving licence or suitable transport to meet the requirements of the role

  • Willingness to complete a Basic Access NI check

Working Arrangements

  • Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

  • Flexible working hours with core hours in place

  • Hybrid working model available (office-based in Belfast with some home working)
