Senior Quantity Surveyor
Are you looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor role? Interested in working for a leading Construction Company?

VANRATH are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work for a leading Main Contractor, based in Newry, Northern Ireland. The role will be focused on projects within the Education sector including new build, refurbishment and maintenance works.

Remuneration:
£55,000 - £60,000 + package

About The Role:
This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work within a new contract well established company. The role offers real variety and responsibility, involving new build, refurbishment and maintenance works within the Education sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all commercial aspects of contracts, from tender through to final account
  • Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, forecasts, and cashflows
  • Lead the preparation and submission of valuations, variations, and claims
  • Administer contracts ensuring compliance with terms
  • Provide accurate and timely commercial reports to senior management and clients
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favourable terms
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance evaluation
  • Support compliance with housing regulations, health & safety, and sustainability standards
  • Work collaboratively with operations, design, and client teams to achieve successful project delivery


The Ideal Person:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
  • RICS accreditation would be advantageous
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (maintenance, refurbishment, or new build) preferably with experience in the Education sector
  • At least 5 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Strong knowledge of NEC Forms of Contracts
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • High level of financial and commercial awareness
  • Strong IT skills, including cost management software and MS Office
  • Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
  • Adhere to all health & safety regulations and company policy at all times
  • Report any accidents or issues regarding health & safety appropriately
  • Ensure all Risk Assessments & safe systems of work are read, understood, signed and followed
  • Observe & follow all manual handling practices
  • Valid CSR Card or formal Health and Safety Training
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Be capable of working on own initiative
  • Ability to work methodically and with attention to detail
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Have the ability to work with a wide range of people and team player
