Senior Project Manager / Site Manager (New Build Education Project)

Client

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager with a background in new-build education projects to join a well-established contractor delivering a major educational development in Northern Ireland. The business has a strong reputation for high-quality delivery, strong HSQE standards, and long-term investment in its people. This role offers the opportunity to lead a technically complex education scheme within a collaborative, supportive and professional project team environment.

The Ideal Person

You will hold a third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline, with a strong Project Management focus supported by an underlying engineering background. You will have a minimum of 3+ years' experience delivering new-build construction projects, ideally within the education sector, and be confident managing projects from early design stages through to completion.

Responsibilities

As Senior Project Manager / Site Manager, you will take a lead role in the planning, coordination and delivery of the project, with responsibilities including:

  • Overall Project Management leadership of a new-build education scheme from pre-construction through to handover

  • Managing programme, cost, quality and risk to ensure successful project delivery

  • Liaising with clients, consultants, designers, subcontractors and supply chain partners

  • Coordinating site activities while maintaining a strong strategic project overview

  • Managing procurement of subcontractors, materials and BOQ packages

  • Leading progress meetings and chairing project coordination workshops

  • Overseeing Health & Safety management and ensuring compliance with HSQE standards

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions, applying engineering judgement where required

  • Monitoring progress against programme and budget, reporting to senior management

  • Managing inspections, quality assurance and handover documentation

  • Maintaining accurate project records, reports and progress updates

  • Supporting engineering input where necessary to resolve design or construction issues

Essential Criteria

  • Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline

  • 3+ years' experience in a Project Manager / Site Manager role delivering construction projects

  • Proven experience on new-build education or similar large-scale building projects

  • Strong Project Management capability with an underlying engineering understanding

  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Track record of delivering projects from inception to completion

  • Full EU / Irish driving licence

  • Relevant third-party Health & Safety site management training

Remuneration
