A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an innovative and fast-growing technology business leading the development of high-performance, zero-emission systems within the advanced engineering sector.

This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects, leading the design, development, and integration of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems from concept through to manufacture and testing. You'll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that is driving meaningful change in sustainable technology and engineering excellence.

The Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take ownership of the design and delivery of advanced mechanical assemblies and components that integrate with electrical and control systems. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll support innovation and continuous improvement across all design phases, from concept generation to final production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimisation of complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CATIA (V5/V6) or equivalent software.
  • Generate innovative design solutions from initial concept through to production release.
  • Specify materials, finishes, and tolerances for components exposed to demanding environments.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to capture requirements and ensure design integrity.
  • Conduct design reviews, analysis, and validation to meet performance, cost, and safety targets.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation for manufacturing, testing, and client use.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, and testing teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Support new technology introduction, R&D programmes, and prototype development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

About You

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Automotive, Aerospace, or similar).
  • Minimum 5 years' industry experience, ideally within marine, motorsport, or aerospace engineering.
  • Proven ability to develop designs from concept to manufacture, including tolerance analysis and design-for-manufacture principles.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (CATIA preferred).
  • Excellent understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and surface treatments.
  • Experience with FEA, CAE, or simulation tools desirable.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated, creative problem-solver capable of thriving in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Private medical insurance and health cashback plan
  • Group income protection and life insurance (3× salary)
  • Stakeholder pension scheme
  • Cycle to Work and Electric Vehicle schemes
  • 22 days annual leave plus 13 public/bank holidays (increasing with service)
  • Regular social events and wellbeing initiatives
  • Enhanced maternity and sick pay provisions
  • Career development in a high-growth, technology-driven organisation

This is an outstanding opportunity for a passionate and technically strong engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of world-class mechanical systems within an organisation focused on innovation, sustainability, and excellence.
