Senior Mechanical Engineer
Salary: £50,000-£55,000

Our client, an innovative engineering organisation operating at the forefront of advanced technologies, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing Mechanical Systems team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and integration of cutting-edge electromechanical systems for next-generation marine vessels.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the conceptual development, detailed design, and integration of mechanical systems and assemblies. Working closely within multi-disciplinary project teams, you will develop high-performance solutions for complex systems including energy storage, alternative fuels, and power delivery technologies.
The role offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high levels of autonomy and technical ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of components and assemblies for advanced electromechanical systems.
- Develop solutions from concept sketch to detailed manufacturing drawings using 3D CAD (3DX / CATIA).
- Work with high-level product requirements to capture and define system-level engineering needs.
- Apply a systems-engineering approach, collaborating closely with electrical, controls, and production teams.
- Specify materials, finishes, treatments, and tolerances for harsh marine environments.
- Optimise designs for weight, certification, cost, and manufacturability.
- Produce technical documentation to support testing, manufacturing, and customer communication.
- Contribute to vessel development programmes when required.
- Support the introduction of new technologies and continuous improvement activities.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (2:1 minimum).
- 5+ years' experience in a relevant high-performance sector such as marine, aerospace, or motorsport.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience designing precision-engineered components using CATIA or equivalent 3D CAD.
- Proven ability to develop concepts from a blank sheet of paper.
- Skilled in producing high-quality technical drawings for manufacture and assembly.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material selection.
- Experience in analysis, prototyping, and testing.
- Ability to apply first-principles engineering and perform relevant hand calculations.
- CAE/FEA experience desirable.
