VANRATH are recruiting a Senior Design Technician to work a leading Façade Contractor based near Belfast.

Remuneration:
£45,000 - £55,000 DOE + package

Client:
Our client is a leading Façade Contractor with an excellent reputation in the industry for exceeding their clients expectations, providing high level façade solutions. They have been operating for multiple decades and have gone from strength to strength over the years.

Business is busy with a large order book secured for the long term. Due to their continued growth they have a great opportunity for a Senior Design Technician to join them on a permanent basis.

Role Summary:
Senior member of the Design Team working within the Design Department. Providing drawings, technical information & early notification of issues which could delay a project. The Senior Designer will ensure that the Design team submit information which is accurate and in line with the company's quality standards and Design office policies, to both internal and external customers. Be a key part in making a success in growing the Design office in providing knowledge and mentoring to the members of the Design team.

Key Tasks:

  • Be a senior member of the project design team providing clear and concise information required for the client approval and installation of the project within the contract and design office budget while incorporating all regulations / standards, customer requirements and Design office policies
  • Ensure that the team provide information to a high-quality standard which is expected from the department on time and within budget using the Department QA checking procedure
  • Review product specifications, tender specifications and BOQs
  • To produce working drawings in line with the project Specification and tender submittal using AutoCAD / Revit software
  • Provide support to the Design Manager for the Design element of a live project and provide practical solutions for the successful completion of a project
  • Attending to correspondence of a technical nature relating to current project
  • QA review drawings to ensure they meet the Design office policies and are in line with the project requirements prior to approval release
  • Review department and contract programmes on a continual basis to ensure that a project is delivered on time and within the design office budget
  • Produce Project team member programme and Information Release Schedules
  • Oversee the preparation of all technical submittals required for the project, including samples, mock-ups and all technical reports
  • Review and sign off selected high value or long lead time material orders prior them being released to purchasing department for order
  • Review and Sign off Factory and Site package prior to Pre-Production Designers issuing to relevant departments
  • When required co-ordinate work of design subcontractors and liaise with external structural engineers
  • Be aware of offices procedures for the creation of external Request for Information submittals and internal Potential Variations to the tendered Scope of Work
  • Attend onsite Design team meetings to provide technical solutions which meet the client's needs and in line with the company budget and programme
  • Liaise with the Operations team providing Design support with clear and concise information packages for the installation stage of the project
  • Mentor the project Design team for the duration of the project while providing knowledge to help grow the experience/ skill within the team
  • Have an up-to-date knowledge of systems and developments within the industry
  • All other duties that may be reasonably required with job holders' level in the company


The Ideal Person:

  • Relevant industry qualification
  • Strong track record working in Design roles
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge
  • Familiarity with glazing and cladding specific standards and relevant Building Regulations
  • Facades / Architectural Glazing background
