VANRATH are recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer on behalf of a rapidly growing, engineering sub-contractor to become a key member of their Senior Management Team.

Our client has experienced exponential growth over the past few years, providing custom-built products and fully operational machinery to a wide customer base in the materials, quarry, waste and recycling industries.


Remuneration
£32k to £37k Dependant Upon Experience


Responsibilities

  • Develop a robust business development strategy to exploit the range of company products.
  • Develop and ensure the execution of challenging sales targets for the sales team, construct sales forecasts and monitor and report on sales achievement.
  • Explore new market opportunities
  • Engineering requirements for customer projects, securing customer business including face to face meetings with new and existing customers along with providing aftersales services and advice.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director and management team to formulate the short-, medium- and long-term company strategies, integrate the business development and marketing strategies and ensure the company business plan operates to fruition.
  • Identify, and analyse new business opportunities in local and export markets and recommend the most appropriate approach in each case.
  • Manage the growth of the geographical base for the company's services by exploring and following up on export opportunities.
  • Direct the necessary research and analysis, including acquiring and collating appropriate target market data, to identify potential markets and customer leads.
  • Establish and maintain a structured customer led communication process for each customer order/project which accurately interprets and identifies customer requirements.
  • Manage the customer ordering process to ensure that customer expectations can be met and that customer demands are in line with company strategy and available product range.
  • Ensure effective customer communication at all stages including ordering, production, and despatch, in relation to amendments, modifications, delivery timeframes etc.
  • Overall management and delivery of day-to-day CAD operations, incorporating the preparation of CAD drawings and technical documentation in accordance with customer requirements and specifications.
  • Initiate, lead and manage the design process, involving others as appropriate, and developing CAD drawings as necessary.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to the Production Team as required.
  • Develop control systems incorporating quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Extract key data from projects to produce material quantities, labour costings etc to deliver product costings and margin controls.
  • Liaise with Head of Operations to ensure the expedient and timely completion of customer changes on projects and provide related feedback to the management team.
  • Undertake customer/site visits as necessary.
  • Meet regularly with the Managing Director as part of the Senior Management Team to ensure the effective communication of management information.
  • As a key member of the management team, contribute to the formulation and implementation of the short-, medium- and long-term strategy for the company.
  • Ensure the undertaking of personal development in order to keep abreast of technological advances and software upgrades and evaluate and recommend software/hardware changes as required in line with business objectives.
  • Any other duties associated with this role, within reason and capability, as determined by the Managing Director


The Ideal Person

  • Third Level Qualified or Time-Served in Design Engineering
  • 3+ Years Experience in a similar role
  • Experience in the quarry industry would be an advantage
