Senior Data Engineer ( SQL )

This well respected Global organisation is currently recruiting for a Senior Data Engineer with good SQL and Cloud skills to join their UK wide team. This is a chance to work with a broad range of technologies including Python and Microsoft cloud centric solutions. This includes providing:


  • Data processing and analytics to enable data-driven decision making

  • APIs to integrate internal systems

  • Bespoke applications for clients


As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with the Business Data, Information Security and Integrations Product Teams, in addition to data owners around the business and other technology development teams. What you'll do As part of this role, you will contribute to the design, delivery and maintenance of the Data Platform, taking ownership of business needs and delivering them end to end. You will also play a key role in championing and raising core data engineering skills in the Data Engineering Team, including training and mentoring junior talent. You will help improve an API approach for key data services, supporting a DataOps approach, reducing the barriers between designing, building and operating Data Services.

Your role will be integral to communicating and explaining key data and development principles to a broad audience, as well as understanding legislation and working within the data governance guidelines. Most importantly, you will create and support a culture of continual improvement and problem solving and where necessary, being enthusiastic and creative in adopting a data driven culture What you'll bring This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of high-performance, scalable, secure, and resilient applications and services with experience of a programming languages e.g. Python. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of SQL and a solid understanding of relevant Agile software development, test and delivery practices, in addition to experience of architecting and developing distributed systems.

You will also be able to deliver successful technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences, and share knowledge with others. You will also be adept at resolving complex issues across multiple teams, in addition to building communities within the immediate team and across the wider function. You will have experience with Data

Engineering at scale, including the selection, design and implementation of engineering solutions. Additionally, you will be skilled in building data services using, amongst others, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake and Synapse, feeding from multiple data sources. Any experience in the following would be desirable: The deployment of data services using Azure DevOps YAML pipelines utilizing BICEP (or ARM), SQL Schema, Synapse Workspace, Powershell and Azure CLI, and the visualisation of data using Power BI, DAX and M. API development and implementation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a greenfield development and to be working in a domain challenging environment.
