Commodity Buyer
The Company
As one of the most well-known manufacturers in NI with over 75 years in operation, this is a company with a strong global reputation who are expanding steadily. Our client is hiring for Commodity Buyers to join their team and contribute to projects which help to positively fight climate change.
Main Responsibilities
* Maintain material cost on Bill of Materials across all products and ensure costs are lower than current sales Quotas.
* Work with Sage, adapting the price, lead-time and supplier details as required.
* Oversee the engineering process, purchasing new parts and ensure suppliers are working to the correct revisions of drawings.
* Communicate with supplier on delivery key performance indicators - such as shortages, quality & invoice queries.
* Actively contribute to achieving departmental goals and KPIs.
* Initiate supplier agreements and see them through to completion
* Actively contribute to New Product Introduction projects.
* Within the allocated commodities, source new suppliers for items.
* Discuss with suppliers to achieve optimum batch sizes and reduce costs as a result.
* Analyse the cost of manufacture of parts considering the cost of raw materials, labour costs, machining costs to ensure the company is getting value for money from the subcontracting supply base.
* To compare drawings of new parts with existing parts to ensure cost increases or decreases are justified.
* Reclaim finances owed from suppliers for non-performance and warranty claims.
