The Ideal Person

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's at grade C and above (including Maths and English), or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience working within a busy finance department
  • Good working knowledge of sales and purchase ledger including period end close and reconciliations
  • Effective use of computerised accounts packages
  • Experience of Sage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, and Outlook with strong excel skills
  • Demonstrable understanding of good financial controls.


Desirable

  • At least 1 years' supervisory experience
  • Demonstrable understanding of good financial controls.
  • Efficient work with audit/inspection
  • Experience of assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearend accounts
  • Experience of developing and documenting financial processes and procedures


Responsibilities
As a Senior Accounts Assistant you will be responsible for:


1. Supporting the Accountants in the preparation of monthly financial statements, quarterly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
2. Full understanding of purchase and sales ledger functions, processing invoices and credit notes across the group.
3. Responsible for the review and maintenance of well controlled ledgers, performing and reviewing regularly reconciliations and working closely with the business users to resolve issues on a timely basis.
4. To liaise with staff in all departments and suppliers to resolve queries in a timely manner.
5. Support Sales and Purchase Ledger colleagues to ensure the ledgers are up to date and complete; and provide cover when required.
6. Month-end reconciliations and assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end audit.
7. Assisting the Accountants with internal and external audits as and when required.
8. Ensuring necessary financial controls are in place and operating effectively along with responsibility of period end procedures and reconciliations.
9. Supporting the development and documentation of financial processes and procedures to maintain good financial control.
10. Other ad hoc assignments as and when required 1
11. To adhere to policies and procedures.
12. To maintain confidentiality at all times, ensuring that personal details are recorded and stored as appropriate.
13. To observe all Health & Safety rules & regulations.
14. To undertake such other relevant duties which may from time to time be required that are relevant to the post.
