Job description

Vanrath is partnering with an established engineering-led organisation operating across Northern Ireland and Great Britain to recruit a Business Development Executive.

This role is focused on expanding market presence through a combination of new customer acquisition and the strategic development of existing accounts. The successful candidate will work closely with senior commercial leadership and internal operational teams to support sustainable sales growth.


Role Summary

The Business Development Executive will take responsibility for identifying commercial opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and representing the business within the wider industry. This position requires regular travel and a proactive, structured approach to managing sales activity across multiple regions.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities across assigned territories

  • Strengthen and expand relationships with existing customers through regular engagement

  • Schedule and conduct customer meetings aligned to agreed sales objectives

  • Act as a brand ambassador at industry events, exhibitions, and networking forums

  • Gather and interpret market intelligence to support commercial planning

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer activity and pipeline progression

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and support teams to ensure customer requirements are met

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes and customer engagement strategies


Candidate Profile



Essential

  • Relevant qualification in business, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

  • Previous experience in a commercial sales, account management, or business development role

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build long-term professional relationships

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage workload, travel, and deadlines effectively

  • Comfortable using CRM systems and digital tools to support sales activity

  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout Northern Ireland and Great Britain

  • Full UK driving licence



Desirable

  • Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, or technically led environments

  • Experience engaging with technical or project-driven customers
