VANRATH are recruiting a Safety, Health & Environmental Advisor ideally from a Rail and/or Civil Engineering background to be responsible for the strategic oversight of safety assurance across the organisation and for the development and embedding of a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

As a safety, health, environment risk assurance specialist, you will drive the development and delivery of audit and assurance activities across the organisation providing assurance on risk controls and ensure compliance with the Safety Health and Environmental Management system (SMS) and regulatory requirements.



Remuneration:
c£26,000, alongside holiday entitlement and pension (from day one).

The Ideal Person

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of working in multi-site environment/complex organisation in a SHE management or SHE auditing role.

  • Experience of developing relationships both internal and external to deliver appropriate and cost-effective services.

  • Experience of successfully influencing staff at all levels within an organisation.

  • Minimum of a 3rd level qualification e.g. HNC/D or equivalent, in a safety related subject or

    Minimum 3rd level qualification e.g. HNC/D or equivalent, in any subject and a NEBOSH Certificate.

  • Minimum of Technical Member of IOSH or able to become a member within a defined timeframe.

  • Extensive experience in managing safety, measuring performance, and driving improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and delivery of SH&E group wide audit and assurance strategy that demonstrates compliance with the SMS and regulatory and legal requirements, provides assurance against key risk controls, improves safety, and delivers a strong culture of safety and environmental protection and continual improvement.
  • Manage the SH&E Management System's accreditations with the relevant external standards (e.g., ISO14001, 45001, 22301) by achieving and maintaining accreditation.
  • Deliver audits and assurance activity to time, quality, and industry leading standards (e.g., Risk Management Maturity model RM3), evaluating maturity, proactively looking for areas of improvement and providing value adding and insightful recommendations that address control and process opportunities and issues.
  • Lead and co-ordinate proactive gap analysis, continuous improvement projects and policy and procedure reviews, promote the implementation of SMS and requirements identified by the relevant regulators, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure positive relationships.
