Restructuring & Insolvency Solicitor
Location: Belfast
Working Pattern: Full-time | Hybrid & Flexible Working Available

A High-Impact Opportunity in a Market-Leading Team

This is a standout opportunity to join one of Northern Ireland's most prestigious and forward-thinking commercial law firms - widely recognised as a market leader across corporate, banking, and restructuring work. The firm's Restructuring & Insolvency team is undergoing significant growth, driven by a strong and expanding pipeline of complex, high-value mandates across the UK and Ireland.

Known for its technical excellence, commercial insight, and genuinely collaborative culture, the team advises a diverse client base including insolvency practitioners, financial institutions, creditors, directors, and investors. They are regularly instructed on some of the most high-profile restructuring and insolvency matters in the jurisdiction.

Due to continued expansion, the firm is now looking to appoint solicitors at multiple levels - from Newly Qualified through to senior candidates. Whether you're seeking to build a long-term career in restructuring and insolvency or looking to step into a more senior role within a Tier 1 practice, this opportunity offers exceptional scope to develop, contribute, and progress.

You'll work alongside market-leading professionals, benefit from cross-border exposure, enjoy a flexible hybrid working model, and be supported by a firm that invests heavily in its people and their long-term development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on a wide range of restructuring and insolvency matters, including administrations, liquidations, receiverships, and examinerships.

  • Support contentious insolvency work, including director duties, creditor recoveries, asset tracing, and misfeasance claims.

  • Draft and negotiate documentation relating to insolvency proceedings, schemes of arrangement, and corporate restructuring.

  • Work collaboratively with corporate, banking, and real estate teams on distressed and special-situation transactions.

  • Engage directly with insolvency practitioners, counsel, and key stakeholders, helping to build and strengthen client relationships.

  • Contribute to business development initiatives and the continued growth of the firm's restructuring practice.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or due to qualify) in Northern Ireland.

  • Strong interest or experience in restructuring, insolvency, or litigation.

  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and client-facing skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a high-performing, collaborative team.

  • Commercial mindset with a solutions-driven approach.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience advising on corporate or personal insolvency matters.

  • Exposure to contentious insolvency or commercial litigation.

  • Understanding of cross-border insolvency and restructuring processes.

  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues (for senior applicants).

What's on Offer

  • The opportunity to join a growing, market-leading Restructuring & Insolvency team handling high-profile and complex mandates.

  • Roles available for both junior and senior solicitors, depending on experience and career objectives.

  • Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package aligned with top-tier market standards.

  • Exceptional professional development, mentoring, and clear career progression opportunities.

  • Hybrid and flexible working options within a modern, collaborative firm environment.

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to join a top-tier firm at an exciting stage of expansion. You'll work on headline restructurings, engage directly with major financial institutions and insolvency practitioners, and learn from some of the most respected professionals in the field.

If you're ambitious, commercially astute, and keen to develop your expertise within a high-performing and supportive team, this role represents an excellent next step in your legal career.
