Recycling / Refuse operatives - Immediate start

Vanrath are recruiting for a seasonal recycling operative to work in the Banbridge/ Craigavon area

Job Role: Recycling operative
Salary: £10.18 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, 8.00am to 3.54pm Monday to Friday.
Duration: Seasonal
Location : Armagh Borough council area

JOB PURPOSE:
The post holder will be required to carry out waste collection duties including bulk
collection, recycling duties and street cleaning duties.
The post will involve providing frontline contact with the public, giving advice and
information about the service and directing the public to the Household Recycling Centres
as necessary.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Carry out collection of refuse/recyclable materials on allocated bin routes in
accordance with recognised Codes of Practice including working in inclement weather
conditions.
2. Carry out assisted bin lifts as required.
3. Operate a range of mechanical bin collection systems, and to report to management
any defects to such equipment in a timely manner.
4. Give training to allocated staff within the competency of the post holder including
instructing other operatives in the use of plant and vehicle equipment.
5. Inspect and ensure that materials presented for collection are not contaminated by
non-appropriate materials.
6. Collect and record information relating to collection route and individual premises as
required and to present any necessary reports.
7. Report damaged bins to line management.
8. Identify and report premises presenting waste incorrectly and take appropriate action
e.g. inform householder, complete documentation etc.
