Quantity Surveyor (Public Sector)

VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for an Quantity Surveyor for 6 months initially with the possibility of extension and may go permanent.

Responsibilities
The post holders will be responsible to the Senior Maintenance Managers or their nominated officer for providing a professional quantity surveying service for the minor capital and maintenance works programmes. This will include the management of capital and revenue projects/contracts, providing estimates of costs, advising other sections on contract procedures, managing external consultants, authorising payments to contractors and negotiating fees with external consultants.

  • Production and delivery of estimating and/or costing for delivery solutions in line with contract brief and budget. Monitor project and/or financial performance and ensure robust forecasting. Ensure that all financial systems are updated to time, cost and quality, appropriate KPI's. Manage and implement targets to ensure that non-performance identified and benchmarking in place. Responsible for internal and external stakeholder engagement relating directly to the project.
  • Review current procurement strategy in maintenance services and make recommendations on procurement methods to provide value for money in service delivery;
  • Leading the implementation and integration of Term Service Contracts to deliver maintenance projects within the revenue budget;
  • Management of the Term Service Contracts for maintenance works including size measurement of works orders, checking order and rates and processing payments to relevant contractors;
  • Providing cost control and quantity surveying services in connection with the projects;
  • Providing estimates and monitoring expenditure on the programmes of works;
  • Assisting with progressing contract and fee payments on a wide variety of projects;
  • Implementation of Projects
  • Lead procurement review project teams in maintenance contracts;
  • Plan and lead implementation of Term Service Contracts throughout the maintenance


Requirements

  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 3 years' corporate membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • 7 years without RICS
  • Quantity Surveyor experience
  • Degree in surveying
  • Proven ability to achieve challenging targets and objectives through the engagement of teams.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuous personal and professional development
  • Access to a form of transport to meet the requirements of the post.

Remuneration
£36,279 per annum, plus discount benefits.
