VANRATH are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to work on various commercial projects in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The business work on new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects in sectors such as hospitality, luxury 5 star hotel developments, offices, restoration and more.

Remuneration:
c£60,000 to £70,000 + package

Client
Our client is a dynamic, award winning Main Contractor that work across the UK, with offices in Belfast, Dublin and London.

They specialise in high quality commercial projects, including new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects in sectors such as hospitality, luxury 5 star hotel developments, offices, restoration and more.

Due to continuous growth, they are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Dublin region, on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage subcontract packages, appointments and material procurement
  • Direct and proficient negotiation of client contract sums
  • Oversee measures and report variances to the board and client team
  • Prepare valuations for interim applications and assessments
  • Prepare supporting documentation for the client and their consultants
  • Produce Bills of quantities for construction and fitout schemes
  • Monitor costs to ensure budgets are met and attend regular finance meetings internally and externally
  • Liaise closely with Site Managers and Project Managers to record all variations, change requests and instructions
  • Monitoring sub-contractor accounts, negotiations and referrals
  • Preparation and submission of weekly financial reports to client and client QS
  • Monthly cost/value reconciliations to the board
  • Monitoring cash collection
  • Finalising of project accounts with detailed analysis and insight into project performance
  • Managing several projects at different stages at any one time
  • Providing commercial support to the Estimating and manufacturing teams
  • Promote best practice in Health, Safety and Environmental matters
  • Monitoring compliance of projects and following company procedures while delivering best practice
  • Assisting to implement the business plan, developing business opportunities in line with the business strategy, and looking for market opportunities
  • Regular and accurate reporting to the Commercial Director, Finance Director and MD



The Ideal Person:

  • Degree Qualified or other relative qualifications
  • Proven ability of project delivery
  • Track record of working on numerous projects in a range of sectors on major projects with clear levels of responsibility
  • Thorough understanding of construction forms of contract and techniques including construction costs, and ability to knowledgably advise the client
  • Clear understanding of contractual obligations, breaches and remedies
  • Competent knowledge of a range of procurement options available in the industry
  • High standard of current legal and regulatory developments in respect of construction and associated law
  • Good understanding of quality assurance
  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements applicable to the business and wider construction industry
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office, Causeway, Redsky and other role related software packages
  • High standard of proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Client management, including managing expectations and cost reporting
  • Ability to generate repeat business, develop new business opportunities and representation during bid interviews
  • Sound understanding of financial management procedures
  • Pro-active in terms of generating new ideas and adapting to change
  • Effective people management skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a team on complex projects
