Are you looking for a Quantity Surveyor role? Interested in working for a leading Civil Engineering Contractor?

VANRATH are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to work on Civil Engineering projects for a Specialist Contractor, based in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland.

Remuneration:
£50,000 - £60,000 + excellent package

Our client is a family-owned company that operate in piling, groundworks, drilling, specialist foundation, geotechnical and ground engineering sectors throughout the UK and Ireland.

The business is committed to continuous improvement and development and pride themselves on developing a deep understanding of their clients' requirements, offering innovative solutions on a range of projects of various sizes and complexities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the tendering process to ensure rates are competitive
  • Oversee sub-contractor pre-qualification process
  • Review and agree contract documents e.g., NEC and JCT, collateral warranties and subcontractors
  • Forecast and manage job costs
  • Prepare and submit valuations, including measurement and variations
  • Manage variations, ensuring all additional works are correctly recorded in line with the contract
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure full revenue recovery
  • Lead contract review meetings
  • In conjunction with the Contracts Manager, compile, submit, and negotiate agreement of the final contract account
  • Manage sub-contractors to include measurement of subcontract works, check and approve claims for payment, resolve queries, negotiation and settlement of accounts


The Ideal Person:

  • Degree qualified or other relevant qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience working on civil engineering projects
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication and IT skills
  • Able to commute to Downpatrick on a daily basis
