VANRATH are delighted to be working with a very well known public sector organisation in Belfast City Centre who are currently recruiting an Accountant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain public sector experience with a well known organisation in NI that provide a fantastic service to the community. The Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of Annual Financial Statements, month end preparation of budgetary information and other statutory returns.

This is an interim contract role for 6 months initially, with the potential for extension. To be considered for this role, it is essential to be a fully Qualified Accountant, ideally with previous experience in public sector.

About you

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 3+ years' post qualified experience
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment
  • Track record in managing and leading a team

What you'll do

  • Forecast the budget requirements for current and future years for Business Areas within the Organisation.
  • Monitor spend against forecast and provide variance analysis and analytical reviews.
  • Preparation and profiling of salary and expenditure forecasts.
  • Provision of financial advice, guidance and support to business areas.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures and controls.
  • Preparation of monthly financial position report, analysis of general ledger, completion of journals, accruals and prepayments.

Competent in excel skills, analysing large volumes of data, prioritising workload and completing tasks in a timely manner.
