Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Support Team Lead to join a global technology-driven organisation supporting mission-critical trading platforms. This role is central to driving operational excellence and service transformation within the Production function, acting as the local leadership and escalation point for complex production issues while aligning closely with global teams.
Based in Belfast, the IT Support Team Lead will shape a high-performing Level 2 support team, ensuring robust production stability across both on-prem and cloud-based environments. This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management, technical expertise, and continuous improvement.
Role Responsibilities
As Production Support Team Lead, you will be responsible for:
Leading and managing a Belfast-based Level 2 Production Support team within a global support model
Acting as the primary escalation point for complex production incidents and major outages
Managing Incident, Problem, and Change Management activities in line with ITIL processes
Overseeing application installations, upgrades, fixes, and enhancements across production and non-production environments
Monitoring system health, application performance, and service availability
Collaborating with global teams across EMEA and the US to support distributed application stacks
Driving automation initiatives to improve efficiency, stability, and operational resilience
Producing and maintaining high-quality documentation including runbooks and troubleshooting guides
Leading major incident calls, change discussions, and production-related projects
Managing team KPIs, workload planning, performance objectives, and professional development
Requirements
To succeed as a IT Support Team Lead, you will bring:
Proven experience leading a Level 2 Production Support or Application Support team
Strong technical expertise in Windows Server and advanced Unix/Linux environments
Solid SQL skills, including query analysis and database troubleshooting
Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Python, or similar
Working knowledge of networking tools and protocols (e.g. SSH, SFTP, traceroute)
Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools
Strong understanding of ITIL-based support processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management
Exposure to automation and CI/CD tooling within modern production environments
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
