Role Overview:



To analyse and optimise the control processes of all production operations within the mill, ensuring performance targets are achieved. Provide technical process leadership during shifts when necessary. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for waste reduction, minimise downtime and enhance process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to production team members.
  • Coordinate fault-finding and issue resolution related to processes.
  • Use lean techniques, experience, and knowledge to improve manufacturing processes by enhancing yield, quality, throughput, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the production team to drive efficiency improvements within manufacturing and operational processes.
  • Monitor production output efficiency and quickly address any negative trends.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects throughout the mill.
  • Liaise with third-party contractors when necessary to solve problems and develop processes.
  • Actively participate in the planning and implementation of capital improvement projects.
  • Work across various departments to achieve management objectives and targets.
  • Provide support and training to the operations team as needed.
  • Review and improve equipment, process control sequencing, and operating procedures.
  • Train production operators to enhance their process knowledge and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ensure effective communication with employees and contractors during shift changeovers.
  • Adhere to company health and safety policies at all times during shifts.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as appropriate.



Knowledge / experience

  • Strong academic background in a process engineering-related discipline or a time-served maintenance technician with process control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Manufacturing or a related Electrical Engineering discipline, or a time-served Electrical Maintenance Technician with relevant production experience.
  • At least five years' experience, ideally in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in production technical processes, continuous improvement, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience and understanding of PLCs, variable speed drives, and fault-finding.
  • Previous experience in implementing process improvement techniques.
