Payroll Manager (Hybrid)

VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a growing and leading business in Belfast City Centre who are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist. This is a newly established role, reporting directly to the Head of HR, with responsibility for overseeing payroll on a global scale. It's an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented payroll professional to take ownership of payroll operations while contributing to wider business projects.

What You'll Do

In this varied and hands-on role, you'll play a key part in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time across multiple regions. Responsibilities will include:

  • Processing both monthly and bi-weekly payrolls within strict deadlines

  • Managing overtime and bonus payments, including calculations and approvals

  • Handling starters, leavers, pensions, student loans, and auto-enrolment updates

  • Maintaining and updating the Time & Attendance system

  • Preparing BACS files for payment release and reconciling credit card and expense transactions

  • Posting wages journals and reconciling payroll-related control accounts

  • Submitting accurate HMRC returns and keeping up to date with global legislative requirements

  • Producing payroll and headcount reports for internal stakeholders

  • Supporting audit and budgeting processes

  • Driving improvements in payroll systems and procedures

About You

This role is ideal for someone with strong payroll experience, now looking to step up into a global environment and work closely with senior leadership. We're looking for:

  • Proven experience processing UK payroll

  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, NIC, HMRC returns, and pensions

  • Proficiency in payroll software (Sage or similar) and advanced Excel skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset

  • Finance or accounting-related qualification

  • ROI payroll experience highly desirable
