Overseer of Valuations

VANRATH are working with a well renowned public sector body looking to fill a lead role within their assets team, overseeing a panel of valuers.

This role is a permanent position and is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to use their substantial surveying/valuing knowledge in a flexible work environment. The successful candidate will provide standard 5 day cover in the role, but will likely only be required to work 20 to 25 hours per week on average initially.

The Client

Our client is a registered charity, funded both publicly and privately. Their work has transformed the face of affordable housing in Northern Ireland. Their core purpose is to assist and enable people in their pursuit of becoming homeowners and their vision is to lead the way with affordable home ownership.

They have recently launched a new project, providing their services to the Over 55's market and, due to expansion, now require an Overseer of Valuations to provide quality checking and oversight of all property assessments carried out by the valuations panel

Remuneration
Successful candidates will be paid on a pro-rata basis, at a rate in line with £44k to £48k gross annual salary.

Working Hours
Provide 5 day on-call cover, average 20-25 hours per week initially.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the key policies in respect of valuations for new and existing homes and amend these to ensure that they reflect RICS best practise, meet company objectives and deliver a smooth customer experience
  • Carryout regular reviews and audits of our panel of external valuers giving feedback to ensure valuations are carried out in line with agreed standards
  • Develop the guidance for external valuers and ensure that this is effectively communicated with our panel valuers delivering training and providing feedback where appropriate
  • Engage with the panel of valuers regularly to ensure that they are up-to-date with the company's guidance and offer guidance to resolve issues in respect of valuations as they arise
  • Work closely with Operations Manager and Customer Contact Manager to address service issues as they arise and improve the customer experience
  • Effectively manage the panel of valuers to ensure that the company receives good value for money and that the service is effective and consistent
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that properties purchased by the company good value for money. Actively support the management of the company's portfolio of properties
  • Carry-out inspections as required to protect our customers and the association from potential loss due to the properties purchased. Making clear recommendations as to whether properties are suitable
  • Provide property insights and valuation input into the new strategic areas for the company e.g. mixed tenure developments etc
  • Provide valuation advice and guidance where required
  • Ensure that all the valuations activity of the company meet regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the Customer Services Directorate to ensure that the valuations processes operate effectively and deliver a great customer experience
  • To act as a leader in the Customer Services directorate of the company, leading by example and working effectively across the business to ensure overall achievement of company goals
  • Act as an ambassador for the company in all your external business relationships



The Ideal Person:

  • Third Level Qualification
  • 3 years experience in Building Surveying or Residential Valuations
  • Excellent knowledge of the local housing market
