Occupational Therapist -
Dementia & Older People Experience
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have expertise in working with older adults, particularly those with dementia, to provide high-quality assessments, interventions, and support. You will play a key role in promoting independence and quality of life for individuals, offering tailored interventions and working closely with families and carers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of older people, especially those with dementia
- Develop and implement person-centered occupational therapy interventions to support independence and enhance daily living skills.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including social workers, nurses, and carers, to create care plans.
- Provide guidance and education to families and caregivers on strategies to support individuals with dementia.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements.
- Participate in audits, supervision, and professional development activities to ensure the highest standards of practice.
Essential Criteria:
- Recognized degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC.
- 2 years previous OT experience
- Demonstrable experience in working with older adults, particularly those with dementia.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of appropriate assessment tools for dementia care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize effectively.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Location: Derry / L'Derry
Salary: £35,392 - £42,618
