VANRATH are recruiting for a Occupational Health Nurse to join the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team

Remuneration:
£27,000 to £33,000 Annual Salary

The Role

  • Health Surveillance and Monitoring: Conducting regular health assessments and screenings for employees to monitor for occupational health issues, particularly those related to exposure to chemicals, dust, mists, or noise. Maintaining confidential health records for all employees.
  • Injury and Illness Management: Providing second aid and supporting the site first aiders in delivering emergency care for workplace injuries or illnesses. Managing and following up on workplace injury cases, including supporting the site EHS Manager in recording and reporting accidents and near-misses in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Workplace Risk Assessments: Collaborating with the site EHS and Operations Team to identify potential health risks in the workplace. Advising on modifications to reduce health risks, such as ergonomic adjustments, changes in work practices, or use of personal protective equipment.
  • Health Promotion and Education: Liaising and supporting site leadership, HR team and external providers with targeted health promotion such as exercise and healthy eating campaigns. Providing education and training to employees on various health topics and company campaigns, including occupational health risks, stress management, and proper use of protective equipment.
  • Counselling and Support: Offering counselling and support for a range of issues including occupational stress, substance abuse, or mental health concerns. Signposting/referring employees to appropriate external healthcare providers, networks, or support services when necessary.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Assisting in the development, implementation, and assessment/audit of health policies and programs in the workplace. Helping the team with demonstrating and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Collaboration with External Health Services: Liaising with external health services, such as OH providers, hospitals and general practitioners, for follow-up care and treatment of employees.
  • Staying Informed and Compliant: Keeping up-to-date with current nursing practices, occupational health and safety regulations, and any changes in legislation and company requirements.
  • Data Privacy / RIM: comply with data privacy expectations and company Record Information Management at all times, ensuring employee medical records are kept up to date.
  • Employee Wellbeing: support the HR Team roll out employee wellbeing plan and provide follow up support to employees.



The Ideal Person:

Essential

  • Must have RGN (Registered General Nurse) registration.
  • 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to input and record data accurately and efficiently.
  • Proven ability to act on own initiative, as well as part of a team (collaboration).
  • Professional, proactive approach with strong integrity, compliance and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Confident IT user with knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Platform and other relevant systems.
  • Proven ability to provide timely decisions to key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to situations, tasks and challenges.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • A recognized, Occupational Health qualification. There may be opportunities in the future for the successful candidates to pursue relevant OH qualifications.
  • Previous experience working with digital screening tools such as hearing test equipment, lung function test equipment and drug screening.
