Employment Law Solicitor (NQ - 2 Years' PQE) - Belfast

Location: Belfast
Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Newly Qualified to 2 years' PQE Employment Law Solicitor to join a respected Belfast practice with a strong reputation for employee-side representation. The firm is well known for advising and supporting individuals, workers, and trade union members across a wide range of employment law matters, offering high-quality advocacy, clear advice, and strong client care.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior solicitor to develop their career within a well-seasoned and supportive employment law team, working closely with experienced practitioners on meaningful and often high-impact cases.

The Role

You will assist in managing a varied employment law caseload while receiving hands-on training, supervision, and mentoring from senior colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising clients on a range of employment law matters including unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, grievances and disciplinaries, contractual disputes, working time, and related issues

  • Assisting with Employment Tribunal claims, including preparation of pleadings, evidence, and hearing bundles

  • Supporting senior solicitors with complex litigation and advocacy

  • Drafting correspondence, legal documentation, and settlement agreements

  • Liaising with clients, trade unions, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and high-quality service

  • Contributing positively to a collaborative and values-driven team environment

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor (NI or England & Wales), or qualification expected shortly

  • Up to 2 years' PQE with exposure to employment law (post-qualification or strong trainee experience)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A genuine interest in employee-side employment law and advocacy

  • Ability to manage tasks effectively and work well as part of a team

  • Professionalism, integrity, and a willingness to learn
