VANRATH are recruiting a MEP Manager to work on various commercial fit out projects in Northern Ireland and London, England.

Client:
Our client is a leading commercial fit-out contractor based in Greater Belfast, Northern Ireland. They specialise in high quality commercial interior fit-out projects covering retail, hospitality, business, sport and healthcare.

The company are very busy and have a growing pipeline of work. As a result, they are looking for a MEP Manager to join them on a permanent basis. They are looking for a MEP Manager that is happy to work in London Monday to Friday.

Overview of Role:
In this role you will be responsible for managing all MEP activities on site on high end commercial fit out projects. You will work autonomously using your fit out/construction knowledge to problem solve and make decisions on a daily basis. You will co-ordinate and control specialist engineering installations and ensure that the work is completed with accordance with the specification and completed programme.

Duties:

  • Overall co-ordination of the entire services team both client side and contractor side to ensure delivery of a quality services installation on time and to budget
  • Chasing all missing information and driving decisions to enable design and installation of services to maintain program
  • Chairing services meetings and issuing minutes
  • Managing services design by sub-contractors to achieve client's requirements
  • Pre snag of all elements prior to client final / partial inspections / handovers
  • Feeding back all actions and communication from a services perspective through the team to ensure all team members are up to speed with services status and their obligations
  • Management of the coordinated services drawings early in the project to ensure no clashes with the architectural build or other services
  • Pushing for all necessary instructions to keep all services on program
  • Managing a coordinated services strip out program developing procedures for identification and removal of services in a timely and safe manor so as not to effect the live trading environment as necessary.
  • Feeding back on sub-contractor performance and development of a strong services sub-contractor database
  • Managing Mechanical & Electrical elements of live projects and tenders
  • Take responsibility for and manage the on-site installation and commissioning of all M&E activities
  • Liaise with all designers and sub-contractors to develop installation and commissioning programmes
  • Ensuring M&E design, installation & commissioning programmes are incorporated into the main programme
  • Meeting with designers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure the construction, installation and commissioning works are developing as planned
  • Ensuring the installation and commissioning works are managed in accordance with the relevant quality procedures
  • Manage the commissioning works in a sequenced and structured phasing from pre-commissioning checks to live performance testing
  • Coordinate all works in accordance with Health & Safety requirements including on-site permit systems
  • Designing of minor work elements to satisfy project specific requirements
  • Liaising with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and third parties as appropriate
  • Providing M&E technical input and advice as required for live projects and tenders
  • Coordinating any temporary M&E services required
  • Managing the flow of information from the M&E design team and subcontractors and advising the project team of any impact on progress and programme
  • Providing necessary information to the Procurement Department to enable the procurement of materials and subcontractors
  • Providing input to handover documents
  • Introducing improvements and innovations where appropriate
  • Liaising with the Commercial and Project Management teams on commercial aspects relevant to the role as required
  • Co-ordinating the process of isolation, zonification & strip out of services, whilst maintain live services
  • Coordinating the specific installation with all MEP contractors to avoid collisions
  • Feeding back cost for variations and minimising costs also feeding back contra charges from sub-contractors through proactive co-ordination


The Ideal Person:

  • Ideally educated to degree level or other relative qualifications
  • Track record working for a reputable Main Contractor
  • Have a good understanding of the construction process, such that designs are developed with appropriate regard for buildability
  • Possess a sound understanding of M&E processes and applications
  • Experience of either design or construction of M&E works
  • General awareness of commercial issues relating to construction contacts
  • Chartered membership of a professional body is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of Procore or other project management software
  • Happy to work in London Monday to Friday
