Mechatronic Technician - Derry Area

A leading advanced manufacturing company in the Derry area is seeking a Mechatronic Technician to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on custom-built automation and robotic systems for a global client base across a wide range of industries.
The Role:
As a Mechatronic Technician, you'll be at the forefront of machine build and automation projects. You'll play a key part in assembling, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex systems that combine electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and robotic components.
Working alongside a skilled engineering team, your role will ensure equipment is built to the highest standards, operates efficiently, and is continuously improved for performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the end-to-end build of bespoke machinery and automated equipment.
- Conduct routine servicing and identify faults across mechatronic systems.
- Diagnose and repair issues across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components.
- Wire and commission key subsystems such as control panels, PLCs, drives, and vision systems.
- Investigate robotic system errors and assist with resolving control-related issues.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation accurately.
- Keep clear records of repairs, modifications, and routine maintenance.
- Work closely with engineers to enhance system performance and resolve challenges.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health and safety standards.
- Share knowledge and provide operational guidance to team members when required.
About You:
Essential:
- Qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field (HNC/HND or higher).
- Minimum 3 years' relevant industry experience in a similar technical role.
- Proficient in fault finding and system diagnostics.
- Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working with robotics, control systems, and automated machinery.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong team player with good communication skills and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Certification or training with major platforms (e.g. Siemens, FANUC, Allen-Bradley).
- Prior involvement in commissioning or supporting complex automation projects.
