A large, well-established engineering business in Cookstown is continuing through a strong period of growth and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding design team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically complex projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with clear long-term development prospects.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions across a range of engineering projects. You will work closely with electrical, process, and controls engineers, contributing throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical design and development in line with client and project specifications
- Production and coordination of 3D models using Revit and related design tools
- Creation of general arrangement drawings, sections, and elevations
- Development of detailed fabrication and installation drawings
- Preparation of equipment schedules, calculations, and technical specifications
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to source equipment and technical information
- Supporting technical submissions and design reviews
- Attending project design meetings and site visits as required
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary design team
- Ensuring designs comply with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a mechanical design engineering role
- Strong experience with 3D design software such as Revit, SolidWorks, or Inventor
- Background in fabrication and practical design for manufacture
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Proactive, innovative approach to engineering design
