As part of its ongoing growth, the firm is seeking to appoint a talented Litigation Solicitor (2-7 years' PQE) to join its busy Defence Litigation team in Belfast. The Role
As a key member of the Defence Litigation team, you'll manage a diverse and stimulating caseload acting for insurer and insured clients across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The work will be challenging, varied, and rewarding - encompassing high-value claims, cross-border disputes, and cases that test both technical skill and strategic judgment. You'll work alongside some of the most experienced litigators in the jurisdiction, gaining exposure to top-tier defence work while enjoying direct client contact and a clear path for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a personal caseload of defence litigation and insurance matters through all stages of the litigation process.
Provide clear, pragmatic, and commercially sound advice to insurer and insured clients.
Draft pleadings, advices, and correspondence to an exceptional professional standard.
Conduct negotiations, mediations, and settlement discussions.
Collaborate closely with colleagues, clients, and counsel to deliver timely and effective results.
Contribute to the firm's commitment to excellence in client service and business development.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Qualified Solicitor with experience in defence litigation, insurance law, or related areas.
Current practising certificates in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Strong technical understanding of litigation principles and procedure.
Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines with precision and professionalism.
A proactive, client-centred approach and strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
Experience in professional negligence defence and/or insurance policy disputes.
Exposure to cross-border or insurer-led defence litigation.
Experience supervising or mentoring junior solicitors (for those at the higher PQE range).
