Location: Belfast (Hybrid - 3 days in-office)

VANRATH is proud to be partnering with a global FinTech leader to recruit for a Lead Software Engineer to join their high-performing technology team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design and development of mission-critical cloud-native platforms used by major financial institutions worldwide.

As Lead Software Engineer, you'll combine hands-on development with technical leadership - mentoring engineers, setting development standards, and shaping the culture and output of a forward-thinking Agile team.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of software engineers across the full development lifecycle
  • Design, build, and maintain modern .NET-based software solutions on AWS
  • Align development with project timelines and business priorities
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, BAs, and PMs to shape and refine requirements
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK (Python)
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and testing practices
  • Document technical decisions, system architecture, and development processes

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Principal or Lead Software Engineering role
  • Strong cloud-native development experience, ideally with AWS
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, unit testing, and Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with Entity Framework, contract-first API design, and microservices

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
  • Comfortable using tools like Git, JIRA, and creating technical documentation
