Vanrath Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading organisation to recruit a Software Development Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior software professional to lead high-performing teams, shape technical strategy, and deliver secure, scalable software solutions aligned with business goals.

The Role

You will play a key leadership role across the full software development lifecycle, guiding ta team of 5 Software Engineers in the delivery of robust, high-quality software products. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with strong people leadership, mentoring engineers while driving best-in-class Agile and DevOps practices.

This is a hybrid working role - 2 days in office. (You choose the days you work in office.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor software engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle from design through to delivery and support
  • Build and continuously improve Agile and DevOps ways of working
  • Align technical architecture and delivery with wider business strategy
  • Design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems based on business requirements
  • Oversee system integrations across a complex enterprise architecture
  • Work closely with business and IT stakeholders to solve complex challenges

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' commercial experience in software development and engineering leadership
  • Experience with .Net mainly (Javascript desirbale)
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and/or Azure
  • Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs
  • Experience using tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, or similar
  • Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and develop software engineers
