Lead DevOps Architect (kubernetes essential)
VANRATH are pleased to be working with a relatively new entrant to the Belfast market and they are looking for a Lead DevOps Architect (Kubernetes essential). Working remotely the company sits within the e-commerce sector working with household names. With a great culture and atmosphere it is ideal for someone who wants to make a direct contribution to the company and help get the products out and over the line.
The Role
Main Duties:

  • Improve and refine existing cloud infrastructure, based mainly on Kubernetes
  • Migrating microservices architecture
  • Building and supporting kubernetes clusters
  • Automation & configuration management tools, for logging
  • Help develop best practices in Kubernetes environments.
  • Champion and subsequently introduce new technologies and improve CI/CD workflows
  • Ensure process repeatability, track/document any changes to infrastructure, assist development teams during deployment/downtime activities
  • Work with incoming QA and test automation engineers to develop and maintain a robust test infrastructure
  • Design architectural solutions for product improvements and feature requests
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting, maintenance and logging
  • Perform root cause analysis for production errors
  • Help ensure the team continues to evolve and improve in everything we do, and how we do it
  • Coach new joiners and provide expert support to wider team as required



Skills & Experience:
Essential:

  • 5+ years of experience as a software and/or DevOps engineer
  • Experience with containerized applications and deployment, such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker.
  • Hands on experience in AWS, Kubernetes, Database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis), Monitoring tooling (Datadog)
  • Excellent understanding of security
  • Proven hands-on experience in Linux, Git, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform and Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins or an equivalent CI/CD tool
  • Excellent knowledge of networking protocols
  • Ability to think out of the box with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts in plain English
  • Passion for writing clean, modular, well-commented, readable and reusable code
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency.



Remuneration
Due to this role being a key hire for the company they are flexible in terms of experience but would be between 85-90k + benefit and working remotely
