Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled Lead Data Engineer to take the helm of our client's data platform, overseeing data ingestion and warehousing. The Lead Data Engineer will play a pivotal role in implementing data infrastructure, developing automation systems, assessing new technologies, and amplifying data capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Guide and mentor a diverse team, offering support and direction.
  • Data Platform Ownership: Devise and implement data infrastructure and pipelines to collect, centralise, and curate data from internal and external sources.
  • Automation & Orchestration: Develop automation systems to configure, monitor, and orchestrate our data infrastructure and pipelines.
  • Technology Evaluation: Assess new technologies to enhance Data Engineering capabilities continually.
  • Initiatives Leadership: Spearhead initiatives to optimise our data platform, analytics, and product offerings.

Key Attributes Required:

  • People Skills: Strong leadership skills coupled with exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, Snowflake, SQL, dbt, Airflow, Spark, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, & AWS.
  • Initiative and Independence: Highly self-motivated with the drive to propel projects forward in collaborative, fast-paced environments.

Knowledge and Specialist Skills:

  • Education: BS or MS in Computer/Data Science or related fields.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or similar roles, including large-scale data processing pipeline deployment.
  • Data-Driven: Utilise data to inform decision-making.
  • Additional Requirements: Passion for data, proven excellence in previous engineering roles, interest in start-up culture, basic knowledge of machine learning and statistics, experience with graph databases.
  • Certifications (Nice to Have):
    • Snowflake Certified Data Architect or Snowflake Certified Data Engineer
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Data Analytics
    • Certified in dbt (Data Build Tool)
    • Apache Airflow Certified
