HR Officer
Location: Mid Ulster
Employment Type: Full-time, Maternity Cover
Hours: Mon-Thu 08:00-16:30, Fri 08:00-14:00
VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation in Northern Ireland, currently seeking an experienced and proactive HR Officer to join their growing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional looking to broaden their experience across a diverse and fast-paced environment, working on impactful HR projects and people strategies.
The Role
As an HR Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering hands-on HR support and driving forward key people initiatives across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You'll support operational HR functions, contribute to strategic planning, and help shape a positive and compliant workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Provide day-to-day HR support across sites in NI and ROI
- Ensure compliance with employment law and internal HR policies
- Manage employee records with accuracy and confidentiality
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Develop job descriptions, advertise roles, shortlist candidates, and manage interviews
- Prepare job offers and coordinate all aspects of onboarding and induction
- Maintain applicant tracking systems and support recruitment reporting and admin
- Collate monitoring data and assist in preparing the annual Equal Opportunities Return
Employee Development & Performance
- Support line managers with timely probation reviews
- Coordinate training programmes and learning initiatives
- Assist with performance management processes
Employee Engagement & Relations
- Provide advice on HR and employment law matters
- Support employee relations including grievance and disciplinary processes
- Organise staff engagement events and support culture initiatives
- Monitor and manage absence levels
Please note: occasional travel to other sites in NI and ROI may be required.
Essential Criteria
- 2+ years' experience in a generalist HR role
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including English & Maths
- Working towards or partially qualified in CIPD
- Knowledge of employment law in both NI and ROI
- Experience managing employee records and supporting recruitment processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of discretion and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
