Summary
VANRATH has partnered with a respected organisation in Belfast to recruit an HR Advisor specialising in Employee Relations. The role is suited to a confident advisor with strong employment law knowledge, providing guidance on complex people matters and supporting managers and HR colleagues through sensitive cases and organisational change.

What do you need?

  • Experience advising managers and HR on performance, conduct, grievances, absence, and flexible working.
  • Skilled in conducting impartial investigations and managing cases from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication, including formal meetings.
  • Ability to analyse trends, assess risk, and provide commercially minded advice.
  • Experience developing and maintaining HR policies, templates, and guidance.
  • Able to deliver coaching, training, and updates on ER practices.
  • Effective collaboration with senior leaders, and external advisors on complex ER matters.

What you will do each day

  • Provide expert guidance to HR and management on employee-related matters, including performance, conduct, grievances, absence, and flexible working, while assessing potential risks.
  • Lead impartial investigations into workplace issues, collecting evidence, interviewing relevant individuals, and producing clear, professional documentation.
  • Represent HR at formal proceedings such as disciplinary, grievance, and appeal meetings, ensuring fair and consistent processes.
  • Oversee the management of ER cases from start to finish, monitoring progress, identifying patterns, and escalating complex situations when needed.
  • Support managers and HR colleagues in handling long-term absence, organisational changes, and restructures, maintaining smooth operations and employee engagement.
  • Review and maintain ER policies, templates, and guidance materials, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with organisational values.
  • Deliver training, coaching, and updates on ER practices, employment law, and internal processes to HR teams and line managers.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and external experts on complex cases, tribunals, and strategic initiatives, providing insights for continuous improvement.
